About Us
Our Roots:

Siboney Motors has deep roots in the Miami community that stretch back during their 39 years of uninterrupted business at the current location on 27th Avenue. However, that is not where the Siboney story begins. Rigoberto "Rigo" Caceres, the owner and founder of Siboney Motors, has spent his entire adult life in the automobile business. Rigo, a 1960's era Cuban immigrant, began in the automotive sales business back in his native Cuba, where he and his uncle founded a car dealership in the town of Marianao, in the province of La Habana in 195x. Rigo ran the dealership successfully until the Castro communist regime siezed the business in the early sixties, as it did so with many other private enterprises in Cuba.
The Early Years in Miami:
Deprived of his livelihood, Rigo decided to emmigrate with his young family to the United States seeking political freedom, as well as the opportunity to rebuild his business and provide a secure future for his family. The family settled in Miami, and after a couple of very difficult years filled with odd and dead end jobs, Rigo found himself buying and selling cars to make ends meet, and soon thereafter, he opened Siboney Motors at its present location on Miami's 27th Avenue and NW 2nd street.
Rigo named the business in honor of "Siboney," the famed Indian chief who
defied the Spanish Conquistadores and w
as
finally burned at the stake. Defiant until the end, Siboney is said to have
proclaimed to his captors who tried to convert him to Christianity; that he
would rather go to hell, than chance meeting his captors in heaven. During
its early years, Siboney Motors displayed the same dogged determination of
its namesake. Despite very limited resources and a limited command of the
English language, Rigo struggled to make Siboney Motors a prosperous
business. Using the tagline, "El Indio que Motoriza a Miami," or "The Indian
that Motorizes Miami" in local advertising, he made the business a mainstay
of the neighborhood. He also eventually expanded into auto rental and
leasing services.
Siboney Motors Today:
In recent years the business has modernized, embracing new technologies
like the internet to better serve its clients and provide a more varied and
cost effective selection of automobiles. Siboney is now able to locate and
purchase vehicles across the US from a network of wholesale sources, auction
houses and off-lease vendors. Each vehicle is carefully inspected and
Siboney provides its customers with car condition reports provided by
licensed appraisers, as well as Car Fax reports. This way customers can
purchase vehicles with peace of mind. In addition, Siboney Motors only
offers late-model used vehicles that are still covered by the manufacturers'
warranty so customers have access to bumpe
r to bumper protection from the
likes of Ford, GM, Honda and Toyota.
Visit us today and let us work with you to get you into a vehicle that will meet your needs, suit your taste and won't hurt your wallet. The way you stay in business for 39 years is by building lasting relationships with your customers, not by pushing them into a car you need to sell. I can't tell you how many customers have bought a car from us and have come back years later to buy another car for their son or daughter. That is the trust we strive to develop. So stop by and ask for Rigo, you have my promise that you will leave satisfied.
